Where does the time go?
I find myself lately wondering when my baby decided to grow up! It seemed like 9 months of being pregnant was a lifetime but the last 7 months have went by in a blink of an eye. Lately, watching Kate makes me sad because she isn't a little baby anymore she is a curious little person that has her own agenda. In just two weeks Kate has started crawling all over the place and she even started pulling herself up to stand today. Kate was very proud of herself, she has been trying to do this all weekend.

I still don't know when Kate decided to start growing up but I cant wait to see what she accomplishes this week. I just hope she decides to grow up a little slower so we can enjoy our baby a little bit longer.

So it seems that I am only averaging one blog per month. I know its disappointing but life is busy or should I say Kate is busy! She is always on the move and now she is getting up on her hands and knees. Most of the time she just rocks back and forth but she has been crawling one or two steps. She usually just gives up and goes back to army crawling because she can get around better.
Kate's curiosity is on overload recently, she has to check everything out. She has a real interest in Bella's bed. Also, how all the animals go between the couch and end table and she tries to follow them. Bella and Prince keep their distance from Kate. I'm a little afraid of Bella's reaction when she cant get away from Kate.
Rusty on the other hand loves Kate. He will lay with Kate on her mat and even scoot his nose under her hand so she will pet him. He doesn't mind her grabbing his tail, he is really a great cat for her.
Kate is obsessed with our phones and the remotes for the TV. I think we will have to see if we can get drool protection on our phones.
Last week we had Kate's six month doctors appointment. She was 19lbs and 28 inches long. This puts her in the 97th percentile for height and 75th percentile for weight. Everything seem to look fine but our doctor did refer us to a pediatric eye doctor to take a look at Kate's eyes. Our doctor doesn't think that Kate is cross eyed that it is just because of the gap between her eyes. Hopefully, it is just nothing or something she will out grow.

I have not abandon you! July was just a very busy month. Last time I posted, Kate had not started baby food yet. Since then we have started green beans, sweet potatoes, pears, apples, and we will start carrots this week. We also started giving her bananas which she really didn't care for. The first day she had them every time she took a bite her whole body would shiver with disgust. She actually said yuck with every bite! I thought she would learn to like them but the second day she had them she actually started to cry. Kate does love green beans, I think that is her favorite food so far. We have been making our own baby food which is really fun. I love knowing what exactly is in her food.Kate is still a very busy girl. She is always "talking" and screaming when she plays. She is getting around a lot more than before. She rolls over both ways now and she can scoot/army crawl her way around. Its so funny to watch her see something that she wants and scoot to it. She does have a short attention span so she scoots from one toy to the other.
We got to visit with a lot of family in the month of July. Jeff's mom and dad were in town for a week. My grandma and grandpa Bender came down and stayed with us. Kate stayed with my mom for a week while Jeff and I went to Las Vegas. It was so nice to get away and spend time with Jeff but I missed Kate very much. I'm not sure she missed us though because she stayed pretty busy. She went to the zoo with mom, Garion, and his girlfriend Jayna. Kate had her first date. They went to the park and fed the ducks.
Kate also got to visit with my grandma Sees and her sister that is here from Korea.Kate is getting so big. She will be six months old in a week! How crazy is that! This weekend we put her "big girl" car seat in our cars. She was getting way too heavy to carry her in her pumpkin seat so it was time. Kate's first tooth has finally pushed through last week. I'm so glad it finally made its appearance because it was really starting to bother her. We were going through a lot of cold teethers and baby orajel.
I'm going to leave you with a few pictures of Kate from the month of July. Hopefully, I am able to write another post before August is over!

Kate has turned from my happy baby into my loud, screaming, always on the go, happy baby. She plays all the time and is always on a mission of some kind, either plotting how to can get Bella or one of the cats close enough to play with or how to get a crossed the room. She got Rusty, the fat cat, pretty good the other day. Kate and I were playing on the floor and Rusty came over to me wanting me to pet him. I did for awhile and when I stopped he thought he would be brave and check out Kate. He got just close enough to smell her and Kate grabbed him by the side of the head. Rusty meowed in his high pitched meow and took off leaving behind a hand full of hair. Of course he made such a scene when he ran away that Bella tackled him as he ran by. I don't think Rusty will be brave anytime soon.
Kate is still rolling over every chance she gets. Ive even had to start getting her dressed after her bath on the floor instead of on the kitchen island. The weird thing is she only rolls from her back to her tummy even though Ive seen her roll the other way and she only rolls to her left. This week she has started wanting to sit up more and more. She can sit by herself for just a short time before she slouches over or takes a nose dive.
She is more excited about her exersaucer. She actually grabs onto the toys and even puts them in her mouth when she can. It seems like everything she can put in her mouth she does. Kate even likes to share. The other day she was sitting on my lap sucking on her fingers, I started talking to her and she decide that maybe I would like a taste too and put her drool covered fingers in my mouth. I didn't appreciate it as much as she thought, but she still got a good laugh out of it.
I have bought her a few new toys this week. It seems like she is harder to entertain than she was before. I also got her some new teething toys to help sooth her poor gums.Kate still loves to watch the Reds games with her daddy. It is funny how contently she sits and watches the game.
Jeff will be heart broken if she doesn't like to watch the Bengals as much as she likes to watch the Reds.
Feeding her cereal is going well. We feed her about two tablespoons twice a day. She loves the rice cereal and even says "Mmmm" every time she takes a bite, probably because I say "Yum" most of the time. This week we started giving her oatmeal cereal as well to give her a little variety. I'm not sure that she likes it. The first time she had it she was so excited but as soon as she had her first bite she looked so disappointed and spit it back out. Ever since then sometimes when she takes a bite she gets a disgusted look on her face and actually shutters but still eats it. Its like she forgets that she doesn't really like it. I think we will give it a week or so before decided that she doesn't like it, maybe it will grow on her. Next week we will start solid foods! First we will start with green beans then bananas. Hopefully, the bananas will make the oatmeal cereal more appealing.

We still seem to have the same hurdles to over come. Kate never wants to go to bed when it is bedtime. She has been going to bed between 9 and 10 pm. If she goes to bed after 10 pm it is a pain to say the least. She cries and has started throwing herself around and even grabbing and waving at my face. Not fun! She also will fall asleep and wake up about a half of a dozen times before finally going to sleep. As you might of guessed going to sleep before 10 pm is the goal every night.

Kate had her doctor appointment today and everything looked great. She weighed 16 lbs and is 25 inches long. The doctor said she is getting to be such a big girl and I totally agree. I cant believe she has changed so much in just four short months.
I'm ready!
The doctor also said we could start Kate on rice cereal so that is what we did tonight. I'm not sure she knew what to think about it. Needless to say she has a lot to figure out before we get the whole eating from a spoon thing and the not spitting it all over mommy thing. Oh and not to mention the laundry will be so much more messier than before. Here are some pictures of our experience. Enjoy!

She is still too timid to reach out and play with the toys but she loves to sit up and look at all of them.I cant wait until next week when Kate goes to the doctors. I'm very curious to see how much she has grown in two months. I unofficially weighed her last week and I think she weighs around 20 lbs!!! If this is true she will have to go up to a big girl car seat. It makes me sad to think my baby is growing up and is too big for her pumpkin seat but it will be a good thing for my back because she is heavy. I told her the other day that she needed a stronger mommy! Although at this doctors appointment she will get four more vaccines. I hope she doesn't get too upset, she can be a drama baby sometimes.
