Three Days of Christmas

Our Christmas started on the 23th and we were all very tired by Christmas night. But it was so nice to see all of our family and have them celebrate Kate's first Christmas with us. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

I wanted to share some pictures of Kate and Santa that were taken at a Christmas party over the weekend. As you can tell she really was too impressed. I hope everyone has a safe and merry Christmas!

St Nicholas Day

Yesterday was St Nicholas Day and since Jeff celebrated this holiday as a child we wanted to incorporate it into our Christmas traditions. Basically, St Nicholas brings you gifts and candy and puts them in your stocking on December 6th. I had never heard of this holiday until I met Jeff. When I was little we opened our stockings Christmas morning. It was something for us to do while we waited for my mom to get home, she works the night shift, or while my parents got a couple more minutes of shut eye.

She screamed when she saw the Elmo book. She just loves her Elmo!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving on Thursday. Kate was able to eat turkey, sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes. Her stranger anxiety really didn't come into play and she was happy to go visit with everyone. She even got to Skye with Grandma and Grandpa Sagel, although I don't think she noticed them on the computer but they got to see her. At the end of the night she got to sit down and play with her baby cousins. Aunt Cynthia got out one of the twins old walkers and Kate just took off. I kind of thought she would but it was fun to see her walking around. She was going so fast that Jeff couldnt even get a good picture.

We planned on getting Kate a walker for Christmas but after seeing her walk on Thanksgiving I knew if we waited we would be just holding her back so we gave her one for an early Christmas present.

Today Kate woke up from her nap with a fever and cried most of the night. Then when Jeff was putting her to bed she got sick all over him. I picked a good night not to feed her : ) I hope Kate starts feeling better though. I'm going to call the doctors office tomorrow morning but I hope its nothing.

Stats

Kate had her 9 month wellness checkup today. She now weighs 21 lbs and 10 oz and is 30 inches long. This puts her in the 90 percentile for height. I'm not sure how my daughter is this tall, but then once upon a time I was tall too.

9 Months

Tomorrow is Kate's 9 month birthday! She has done so much this month and seems to change everyday. A couple weeks ago she actually went to bed with two teeth and when I brushed her teeth the next morning she had four more. It explained why she was so crabby the day before. At the moment she has seven teeth total, four on top and three on the bottom.

Kate is still crawling everywhere and getting into everything. She is starting to learn what no means, at least I hope she is starting to because I feel like I say "No" at least a million times a day! Her favorite thing to mess with is the TV and surround sound. I swear one day she is going to mess up the TV setting so bad that I wont be able to fix it. She has mastered furniture surfing and even lets go and stands on her own every once in a while. She always seems to climb on me when I'm sitting on the floor and then let go. I feel like she is starting to get tried of falling down though.

We have started giving her cheese which she loves, but who doesn't love cheese. We even get to start feeding her meat now. She will have a great first Thanksgiving because she can have a little bit of turkey and some sweet potatoes and if she is lucky some pumpkin pie.
Kate has also mastered drinking out of a sippy cup. Its nice to know if she is thirsty she has her cup because sometime I felt like she just wanted a bottle because she was so thirsty.
The animals have seemed like they have finally come to terms that they have to be nice to Kate or just stay out of her way. Rusty will still lay next to her for the couple of seconds that she stays still. Bella has her moments where she loves Kate and you have to pull Bella off of her. Then there are other times where Bella growls if Kate is even in the same room. Prince just kinda of stays out of Kate's way. His new favorite stop to sleep is in Bella's cage.

One of Kate's favorite activities is looking out the window. She just stares out the window and wave at cars and people when they go by. She also likes to kiss the baby in the window. I think this is so funny because I didn't teach this to her. One day I just noticed that anytime she saw herself in the window or in her mirrors she would give the baby a kiss . Now she will do it when I say "kiss the baby". Although, she will only kiss herself or her Elmo, she wont kiss mommy or daddy. She loves Elmo!!! I think she likes him because he is red, that's her favorite color, she likes to play with the red rubber duck in the bathtub as well. We also visit the Elmo's when we go to Target too. Her eyes just light up when she sees him sing and dance. Leaving Elmo at Target is getting harder and harder though, last time it ended with Kate yelling at me.

Kate still loves to read books. Her favorites are her Elmo book, which she kisses. She also loves her bunny book that she can pet the bunny and the books that she can lift the flaps. We have started going to the library for baby story time. Kate is the only one under a year old but she really liked watching the other kids walk around and of course looking at the books.

I'm going to leave you with some of Kate's funny faces. I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Eye Appointment

Yesterday was Kate's eye appointment that we have been waiting for since August. Everything was fine the doctor agreed with our pediatrician that it was just illusion because of the bridge of her nose is so small. I'm glad nothing was wrong and actually it seems like Kate is starting to out grow it because I haven't noticed her eyes cross for about a week now.

Baptism Pictures

Here are the pictures from Kate's Baptism last weekend, finally. Kate did really well, she didn't cry, but she talked, blew raspberries and wiggled the whole time. She really wanted to look at the Deacon's book and made sure everyone knew it.

Look at my pretty dress

Saving up all her energy for later

I see you!

Hey what's going on?

Now just look at my hair!

Please help me Aunt Cynthia!

8 Months Old

Kate turned eight months old on Saturday. Its amazing how fast she is growing up. She is crawling everywhere, nothing is safe. Even the animal aren't safe on the couch anymore because she pulls herself up to stand and furniture surfs around. We brought her a table toy that she can stand and play with. The first week or so she would pull herself up but didn't know how to get down so she would just yell at me to help. Now she knows that she should bend her knees to get down. She only falls every once and awhile.
Kate loves books. She doesn't really care that you read the books to her she just loves to look at the pictures and chew on them a little bit. I think the books are her favorite toy she is always looking at them.
Kate is now able to pick up pieces of cereal puffs and eat them. I cant wait until the day I can just put food on her tray and let her eat. Although, I'm scared to give her anything other than the puffs because I don't want her to choke. She also likes bananas now, they have to be almost green bananas but she likes them.We had Kate's baptism this weekend. It was wonderful to be able to visit with my family. Hopefully, I can blog about that later in the weekend.
