6 Weeks

My baby is 6 weeks old! Kate seems to be changing and growing everyday. She is even getting too big for her 0-3 months white onesies. Tomorrow we will have to move to the 3-6 months ones. This makes me so sad, I hate that she is growing up so fast. She seems like she will be sleeping through the night soon. She can go up to 6 hours now before she gets hungry. The hard thing is timing her feedings so that she gets fed right before bed. But I can see the light at the end of this sleepy tunnel.
Look at what I can do now!
She can now hold her head up long enough to sit in her Bumbo seat. Like everything else she likes to sit in it for a little while then she loses interest. But I think she does enjoy being able to sit up and look around.
We have been told by everyone that Kate is such a happy baby and I think they are right. She hardly ever cries for no reason. Knock on wood! She has been smiling more and more. She love watching the ceiling fan. I lay her on our bed and turn on the fan and she just talks and smiles.Kate has been very snuggly the last couple of nights. My favorite thing is when she lays on my chest and falls asleep. It is the most peaceful thing, I could lay like that forever. I hope she likes to snuggle when she gets older.
Kate will be a big cousin tomorrow! Cynthia will be induced tomorrow morning so baby boy Sagel should be born sometime tomorrow. I'm so happy that Kate will have a cousin that is so close in age. Its like she has an instant friend. I hope Cynthia has a fast and easy labor!

We got pictures taken today and they turned out better than I thought they would. I didn't think Kate would cooperate or would be sleeping the whole time. But she was awake and even gave us a couple of smiles. You can view the picture at the following link.

I don't remember having so many gray hairs in January. I think the cause is Kate!Oh she may look cute but don't let her fool you. She will come into your life take all your mommy and daddy's attention, cry all the time, and man does she make some funny noises. Don't even get me started on her sleeping schedule. She is up in the middle of the night and again early in the morning. There is no more sleeping in at this house. It used to be so nice I would snuggle with my mommy until noon and then get up to eat and then settle down for my afternoon nap. Now if I want a nap I have to go hide upstairs for some peace and quite. There isn't any snuggling with mommy anymore. As soon as we get comfortable Kate starts to cry and mommy has to get up to get her. I even have to take her on my walks. At lease she doesn't cry during our walks. And look what she has done to Prince and Rusty.Once again if you have lost this little one she is at my house and you can come claim her any time.

Kate is now 5 weeks old. She is such a happy baby. She "talks" a lot more now and has started to smile at us when we talk to her or when she sees us. She also loves when we sing to her. Kate is getting so big! I know I say that every week but it just amazes me how much she changes in a week. She is now getting 4 ounces of formula/milk now. She now eats every 4-5 hours so she has been sleeping a little longer at night but we still do wake up once at night. She is also wearing size one diapers. She still loves to play on her activity mate. The other day she played so hard that she fell asleep.
I've also noticed that her hair has grow so much since she was born. Soon I will be able to put bows and things in her hair.
Newborn
5 Weeks Old
Today we went to see the Easter Bunny. I don't think Kate was very impressed but at least she didn't cry.
I think she told him that she would like summer time pajamas because she gets too hot at night in her sleepers and clothes she can wear to church since we are starting to go to church.
We are also going to get pictures taken on Friday. I hope Kate is happy and gives us a couple of good smiles or at least isn't crying. I will post them when I can.

Kate went to her one month doctor appointment today. My little girl is not so little anymore. She now weighs 10 lbs and is 22 1/2 inches long!!! She has done a lot of growing in two weeks, a little more than one pound and an 1 1/2 inches. She also received her second Hepatitis B shot. I now know why they took her out of the room when she got the first one in the hospital. She was not very happy about it! She of course screamed when the nurse gave it to her and when I pick her up she just had such a sad face. Ive never seen her bottom lip stick out so far. She seems to be OK now just very sleepy. I hope it doesn't disturb our night sleep schedule.
Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful weather! As soon as Jeff gets home we are going for a walk maybe even to the p-a-r-k. Shh I don't want to say that too loud Bella might hear!

One Month Old!

Kate was one month old yesterday! She is getting so big already, it just amazes me. She has started to "talk" and smile more when she plays. It's so cute when Jeff comes home from work Kate just smiles and looks at him with wonderment like she is trying to figure out where he has been all day. Kate also loves to snuggle which I love and so does Bella! We were on a pretty good schedule until this weekend. I think with all the activity Kate didn't get a good nap which threw off her sleep schedule. Sunday night she woke every two hours to eat. This would be fine if she slept for two hours but she wanted to eat every two hours. So by the time she ate, was changed, and went back to sleep she would only sleep for less than an hour. Yesterday I was dragging to say the least. Thankfully, we seem to be back on schedule and went back to waking up only once at night.
Kate went to her first family function and got to meet all her great aunts and uncles and cousins on the Focke side. She slept the whole time but still seemed to mingle with everyone. Kate is also getting excited to meet her new cousin, Jay and Cynthia are expecting a baby boy soon. Cynthia went to the doctor this week and she was told that baby boy Sagel could be here as early as this week!

Spring Time!

I think its finally spring! This weekend it was sunny and the temperatures were in the 50's and 60's and today the high was 70! Its been wonderful, we have been able to go on walks and play outside. On Sunday we went to the outlet mall and did a little shopping. Unfortunately for Jeff, Kate loved shopping. I think she liked looking at all the different things and colors. Kate got her first pair of sunglasses, we couldn't resist and she loved wearing them.Kate is 3 weeks old today! She is getting so big already. We have started giving 3 oz of formula/milk each feeding. You would think this would space out her feedings because she is eating more but she is still waking up every 2 to 3 hours to eat. She is still waking up once at night, twice depending on when we go to bed. I wish she was sleeping longer at night but Ill take what I got for now. Kate is becoming more alert which means she smiles more, makes more funny faces, but it also means she cries more. Yesterday was a very long day, all Kate did was cry. Nothing made her happy and unfortunately for me Jeff had bowling last night so it was just Kate and I. Ill be happy when bowling is over! Its really nice to hand her off for a while when Jeff gets home from work. Kate is also not sleeping as much during the day which makes it hard to get anything done. It usually go like this, she eats and I change her then she is a wake playing/hanging out for an hour or so. She then falls asleep but not for very long maybe an hour then wakes up because she gets hungry. We have been having a lot of tummy time and playing on our playmate. She loves to look at the toys that are hanging but has not tried to reach up and grab them yet. We still don't play for very long, 10-15 minutes. I think she becomes too stimulated and gets frustrated.

I cant live without it!

So Kate has decided this is her favorite blanket. Anytime she is wrapped up in it she goes right to sleep. Unfortunately, because its such a big blanket its hard to swaddle her in it so she doesn't sleep very soundly. But don't even think about wrapping her in another blanket! I tried this very thing today and in return Kate screamed at me for 20 minutes until I gave up and wrapped her back up in her "favorite" blanket. Of course she fell right to sleep in like five minutes. It may be a long night because I really don't want her to sleep with this blanket at night because its so big and I don't want it to go up over her head or cover her face. Do you think Kate will understand?

2 Weeks

Kate was two weeks old yesterday, hard to believe. Part of me cant imagine how life was without her but yet it feels like just yesterday that she was born. We had a doctors appointment today. Kate now weights 8 lbs 12 oz and is 21 inches long, the doctor says this puts her in the 25th percentile. Kate is starting to respond more when we talk to her. She even smiled at Jeff when he came home from work on Monday. He loved that of course! She is also starting to grab things like my hair, our hands, and her pacifier.Kate had her first real bath on Sunday, up until then she had only had sponge baths. She seemed to like it and loves to have her hair washed.
Kate also had her first tummy time experience today. She liked it but only for a short amount of time. The whole time she tries to push herself up with her back legs but of course she isn't strong enough and becomes frustrated and cries. We are all starting to get into a routine. Kate usually gets her last bottle around 11 and then we all go to bed. She then wakes up between 3-4 and then again between 6-7 then if I'm lucky she goes back to sleep for an hour or two. The lack of sleep is starting to get to me but she usually takes a long nap during the day so I have some time to myself to take a nap or just have some me time. I do miss my nights of uninterrupted sleep and my mornings of sleeping in but its hard to be too upset with her when she you pick her up and she smiles at you. But I cant wait until she is sleeping through the night : )
