Holy Cantaloupe!

Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, speaking of the diaper situation... baby's genitals are now fully formed!

I remember going to the grocery store and looking at the plums, peaches, lemons, and even the oranges each week and thinking my baby is that big and being excited. But as I walked passed the cantaloupes this week I said "O my" and started to think I'm only half way there!


As you can see I'm starting to look like I have a baby hanging out in there. The baby is still moving around like crazy. I feel her a couple time each day mostly when I'm laying or sitting down. I'm also feeling better. I haven't had morning/day/evening sickness in over a week! KNOCK ON WOOD!!! I still get car sick though so I have to wear my seabands, even though Prince stole one and of course he hid it somewhere. So now I only have one, Ill be seasick on one side!

Baby Sagel is a...

GIRL! If you couldn't tell by the pink background. We had our ultrasound on Tuesday and everything looked great. The baby is about 11 oz now and she was moving like crazy! She was a little stubborn about showing us the gender, she had her legs crossed the whole time and when the tech would give her a little push to get her to move she just waved her arms around but wouldn't uncross those legs. She didn't show until the very end of the ultrasound and after the tech made me change my position. Maybe she was just being a lady or she likes to keep her mommy in suspense.

This is the 3D ultrasound, pretty cool. Its kind of a side view, the baby's head is at the top right you can see her eyes and nose. Her hand is also up by her face. You can also see her round little belly and her feet all curled up close. She is pretty cute! But I'm a little bias.

18 Weeks

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.




Aww my sweet potato baby : ) Sorry I havent updated the blog soon Im really almost 19 weeks, almost half way there!! I have been able to feel the baby move/kick a lot more this week. I was even able to feel the baby from the outside, the stronger kicks of course. Even more exciting Jeff was able to feel the baby! He was so excited, very cute.
More exciting news is that we purchased the crib this week. We got an awesome deal for the crib and mattress.
Now all we need to do is find out the gender of Baby Sagel so we can start working on the nursery because right now my guest room is a little cramped with a crib in it. But that day will be sooner than later, Tuesday at 9 am!!! Im so excited to see our little baby again. Its hard to believe that last time we saw the baby it was only the size of a grain of rice now its a sweet potato!!
Morning sickness has turned into evening sickness and still has no signs of easing up. Booo!!! I'm still dreaming of that day when I wont have morning sickness but that day might not come until the middle of February. O well I guess. I've also had a really bad case of "pregnancy brain" this week. I physically cant do more than one task at a time, my brain just cant handle it. I was loading the dishwasher yesterday and Jeff asked me to turn on the radio in the living room. I dropped everything I was doing and went to the living room for probably 10 minutes to find a good station, came back into the kitchen and asked Jeff why the faucet in the kitchen was on. I had left it on and had no idea.

Dear Morning Sickness

Dear Mr. Morning Sickness,

I can only assume that you are a man because a women wouldn't annoy me for so long. She would have gotten the hint by now and moved on. You have been around now for 12 weeks, that's 3 months!!! I think you have over stayed your welcome and you can pack up and leave anytime now. There are other pregnant women that need your company. They might even enjoy your little 2am wake up calls and not curse your name every morning. You will be happier with them, they can give you a better home than I can. I'm sorry this hasn't worked out but I think its for the best.

17 Weeks

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.




Morning sickness is getting better and my appetite is growing. For the past four days I've gotten up at 7am and have been starving. I cant even ignore it and go back to sleep I have to get up and eat. But I will take this over morning sickness any day.
The baby is still moving a lot and I'm starting to notice the movement more and more. I also learned a new trick today. If I drink orange juice it makes be baby dance! It made the baby constantly move for 40 minutes or so. This is the longest Ive have felt the baby move. Usually its only for a few minutes.
We also went to Target today to check out their baby furniture. I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only did they have them in the store but that the quality was comparable to other cribs that we have looked at but they were much cheaper. Only two more weeks until we finally know what gender our baby is and can start preparing for its arrival.
Jeff is also excited to learn that our baby now has fingerprints which means in his mind it now has an identity.
